One of five operating sites led by the Army, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) provides finance and accounting services to Department of Defense service members, employees, vendors and contractors.
DFAS employs more than 1100 people in Central New York.
DFAS was created in 1995 as part of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. The next BRAC could take it away.
