A key component of NIST’s Smart Technology Lab Initiative that will turn the city of Rome into a testbed for an array of cutting edge smart technologies, this effort will engage the public and continue to enhance and develop the unique SkyDome UAS test facility.
The objective of the project is to develop a Smart Technology Living Lab Strategic Plan for the greater Griffiss Business and Technology Park (GBTP). The project will feature community-driven vision and execution plans, actively engaging the public in person through a variety of outreach events and online through this website and social media. The plan will become the foundation of the design and instantiation of a secure, open Standards-based Smart Technology Living Lab to support the use, experimentation, and testing of Internet of Things/Cyber-Physical Systems (IoT/CPS) in SkyDome and throughout the “living lab” of GBTP and Rome.
The unique living lab will go beyond implementing and applying developed technologies, integrating research resources and living components found at the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate, Griffiss International Airport, SkyDome, and the Griffiss Institute Open Innovation Campus.
The Alliance will work with community stakeholders, industry, and academic partners to develop practical living scenarios in conveniently accessible areas such as the greater Griffiss Business and Technology Park (GBTP) and historical Mohawk River Trail.
The IoT/CPS research team will include experts experienced in researching and developing smart environments. It will also include a demonstration of preliminary capabilities for an immersive digital walking experience on the Mohawk River Trail.
The Alliance is thrilled to support this project and lead efforts to bring the latest technology home to CNY! To learn more, join the Alliance, or reach out to us here.
