Skydome, Unparalleled $13M Indoor UAS Test Facility at Griffiss International Airport, Officially Completed

The ribbon cutting ceremony for Skydome, a project the Alliance has proudly supported since its inception, took place on Thursday, July 14th at the facility. The ribbon was held aloft for cutting by two Skydio UASs flying inside Skydome. The drones and pilots were provided by Alliance member AX Enterprize, the company that manages the operations center at the New York UAS Test Site (NYUASTS). Skydome is part of NYUASTS and the Innovare Advancement Center, and will provide an RF-shielded environment where UAS can be tested with GPS simulators and an array of advanced equipment.

The ribbon was cut by Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr., Empire State Development President and CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight, Director of AFRL-RI Col. Garcia, Griffiss Institute President and CEO Heather Hage, State Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, and Rome Mayor Jackie Izzo.

Skydome is the largest indoor UAS test facility in the U.S., and is part of the FAA-designated New York State UAS Test Site at Griffiss Airport.
